Good Contract Negotiation Pays Off

Good Contract Negotiation Pays Off

We don't all have expert skills for every aspect of our business. Take contract negotiation, for instance. If this isn't your forte, don't feel pressured into acting without proper consultation. Here's an example. I was negotiating a lease for new location and if I hadn't consulted with my attorney, I wouldn't have known that I could ask for some needed updates to the place as conditions for signing the lease. While the owner didn't go for everything I asked for, we did reach a good compromise. For instance, there is now new Empire carpeton the premises, and I even got to meet with Empire Today myself to make the selection of carpeting. The owner had reserved the right to approve my selection, and fortunately did so. This means that instead of putting up with the low quality carpet that had sun discoloration in some places, I now have a very nice new carpet that makes my business all the more presentable. Next, I had to negotiate contract with a couple of freelancers. When I couldn't quite come up to the pay rate they wanted, I contacted the business consultant who had helped me start up. She recommended I offer a better discount on some other aspects of my business services that would be of use to them, and they were happy with that, so we put that into the contract and we're now doing business.
