R & D Sector Innovation in North Carolina Greenhouse

The R&D sector has substantially grown in the last several years. With bigger interest due to the increase in off-shoring or outsourcing work. There have been many successful stories in fact in this industry. This is great for individuals who are already in the sector to gain motivation and inspiration. A more recent example includes a $20 million deal that has recently many other companies more competitive and also want to strive to be as successful.

A $20 million greenhouse that will employ 25 people is planned by Bayer CropScience in North Carolina. The greenhouse will support the recently completed Bio Science Innovation Center in Morrisville, which conducts R&D innovation related to seeds. The greenhouse will be used to test innovations to improve crop yields, stress tolerance, and overall plant quality.

Bayer CropScience is a subsidiary of the German conglomerate Bayer, which produces insecticides and other crop-related products. The building housing the greenhouse will be 60,000 square feet in area, with construction slated to begin next month and be completed early next year. Bayer currently has 550 workers spread out among its North American headquarters, and is set up to receive $2.3 million in state incentives for creating 128 jobs in North Carolina over the next five years.
